Professor Karl Joulain is a former student of the École Normale Supérieure. He obtained his degree in Physics (1995) and his PhD in Astrophysics (1998). He initially worked as a PRAG at École Centrale Paris from 1998 to 2003, where he conducted research at the EM2C laboratory in Jean-Jacques Greffet’s team. He became a Lecturer at ENSMA in Poitiers in 2003 and later a Professor at the University of Poitiers in 2008. His research is conducted at the P' Institute, focusing on heat transfer at the nanoscale and radiation within the Fluid, Thermal, Combustion department. His research work is centered on the study of heat transfer at short time and spatial scales. He also teaches engineering students at ENSI Poitiers in the Energy program.
