Dr. Jie Chen is a Full Professor and Vice Dean for Research at the School of Physics Science and Engineering, Tongji University. He earned his Ph.D. in 2012 from the National University of Singapore under the mentorship of Professor Baowen Li. Prior to this, he completed both his M.Sc. (2007) and B.Sc. (2005) in Acoustics at Nanjing University under the guidance of Professor Jian-Chun Cheng. Before joining Tongji University, Professor Chen was an ETH Fellow at ETH Zurich (2013-2015) and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore (2011-2013). His research interests span nanoscale heat conduction, phononics, energy conversion, and atomistic simulations, with a particular emphasis on understanding fundamental thermal processes at the atomic and molecular levels.
Professor Chen has received multiple awards and recognitions, including National Young Thousand Talent, Shanghai Youth May Fourth Medal, Shanghai Suguang Scholar, and Top 2% Scientists Worldwide. He has authored over 90 papers in international peer-reviewed journal such as Reviews of Modern Physics, Physics Reports, Physical Review Letters, including 10 ESI highly cited papers and 3 ESI hot papers, 2 invited book chapters, and delivered over 20 invited talks in international conferences. He has a total citation over 7000 and H-index of 44 in Google Scholar. He is currently leading several research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality.
