Baowen Li is a Fellow of Academia Europaea and the American Physical Society (APS) and holds a dual appointment as a Chair Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Physics at Southern University of Science and Technology. Professor Li is a pioneering researcher in the emerging fields of phononics and thermal metamaterials. His research focuses on coherent and incoherent phonon manipulation, phonon thermal transport at the micro- and nanoscale, quantum chaos, and complex networks.
He has authored or co-authored over 400 publications, including three articles in Reviews of Modern Physics and 30 in Physical Review Letters, with more than 31,500 citations and an H-index of 95. Professor Li has delivered over 300 conference presentations, including plenary, keynote, and invited talks, and has received numerous awards, such as the Singapore National Science Award in 2005, the Asia Achievement Award from the Overseas Chinese Physics Association in 2005, and the Brillouin Medal from the International Phononics Society in 2017. He has supervised more than 100 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
