Special Issue Information

The delicate balance of iron metabolism, reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling, and ferroptosis plays a critical role in maintaining cellular homeostasis and influencing health and disease. Dysregulation in these pathways is closely linked to diverse pathologies, including neurodegeneration, cancer, and metabolic disorders. The Cold Spring Harbor Asia Conference on Iron, Reactive Oxygen Species & Ferroptosis in Life, Death & Disease (Awaji, Japan, November 15–20, 2026) bring together leading researchers from around the world to present the latest discoveries in iron biology, ROS signaling, and ferroptosis mechanisms.

This Special Issue aims to compile selected contributions from this conference, highlighting pioneering studies on iron detection methods, ROS and ferroptosis biomarkers, signaling and molecular regulation, metabolic links, chemical probes and therapeutic agents, novel transgenic models, and the role of these pathways in human disease. In addition to featuring work presented at the conference, this Special Issue welcomes high-quality submissions from the wider scientific community focused on ferroptosis, iron metabolism, and ROS biology.

All submissions will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process and should align with its Aims & Scope.
