FOS Opens the FOS Global Forum Series with Its Inaugural Webinar
To promote scientific exchange and collaboration in ferroptosis and oxidative stress research, Ferroptosis and Oxidative Stress (FOS) has launched the FOS Global Forum Series.
The series brings together researchers working in ferroptosis, oxidative stress, redox biology, and related regulated cell death pathways to share new findings, discuss emerging questions, and foster collaboration.

The inaugural webinar welcomed Professor Scott J. Dixon of Stanford University, one of the scientists who first identified ferroptosis, as the featured speaker. In his lecture, "Exploring Novel Inducers of Ferroptosis and Related Cell Death Mechanisms," Professor Dixon traced the development of ferroptosis research and presented recent findings from his laboratory on novel ferroptosis inducers and related mechanisms of regulated cell death. He also discussed current challenges and future directions in the field.

At the end of the webinar, Professor Dixon also introduced his recent FOS publication, "On the Lethal Mechanism of Class III Ferroptosis Inducers," and encouraged participants interested in the topic to explore the study for further discussion.

The webinar concluded with a lively panel discussion moderated by Professor Rachid Skouta (University of Massachusetts).

The discussion covered a wide range of topics raised by participants, including experimental strategies for validating ferroptosis, the molecular interplay between key regulators such as experimental approaches to ferroptosis, GPX4 biology, organelle-specific mechanisms, and potential therapeutic strategies. The engaging exchange of ideas reflected the strong interest of the research community and highlighted the value of open scientific discussion.
The inaugural webinar reflects FOS's broader goal of supporting scientific communication beyond journal publication. Since its launch, FOS has sought to provide not only a venue for publishing research, but also a space where researchers can exchange ideas, discuss new discoveries, and build collaborations across the ferroptosis community.
The FOS Global Forum Series will continue with future webinars featuring researchers from around the world. Through these events, FOS aims to encourage discussion of emerging discoveries and strengthen connections across the international ferroptosis community.
