Announcing the Launch of Geromedicine: A pioneering Journal in Geromedicine Led by Renowned Scientist Guido Kroemer
We are proud to announce the launch of Geromedicine, a peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to offering a comprehensive platform for research in geroscience and leading the development of this emerging medical discipline. We are honored to welcome Professor Guido Kroemer as the founding Editor-in-Chief of Geromedicine.
Professor Guido Kroemer
Guido Kroemer is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Paris, and Director of the research team Metabolism, Cancer, and Immunity at the French Medical Research Council (INSERM). He also directs the Metabolomics and Cell Biology platforms at the Gustave Roussy Comprehensive Cancer Center and serves as a Hospital Practitioner at the Hôpital Européen George Pompidou in Paris, France. Previously, he held academic positions in Austria (University of Innsbruck), China (Suzhou Institute for Systems Medicine), Italy (University of Rome Tor Vergata), Spain (Severo Ochoa Institute, Madrid), Sweden (Karolinska Institute, Stockholm), and the United States (Burnham Institute, San Diego).
Dr. Kroemer's research focuses on the role of cellular stress and death in aging, cancer, and inflammation. With over 1,600 publications, including 72 in CNS journals, Cell (16), Nature (6), Nature Medicine (24), Science (18), and Science Translational Medicine (8). He holds an h-index of 300 and is Europe's most cited biomedical researcher. He is also among the most cited researcher worldwide in biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology.
His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards including the most prestigious cancer research and immunology prizes from Belgium (Baillet-Latour Health Prize), France (Prix Duquesne, Prix Léopold Griffuel, Grand Prix Ruban Rose), Spain (International Prize for Oncology Ramiro Carregal, Boulle-SEI Award) and Switzerland (Brupbacher Prize), the European Union-sponsored Descartes Prize, as well as the most important Italian science prize (Lombardia & Ricerca Prize). He also received two European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Investigator Awards.
Dr. Kroemer is a member of multiple prestigious academies, including the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, European Academy of Sciences (EAS), Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), European Academy of Cancer Sciences (EACS), European Academy of Engineering (EAE), European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), German Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina), Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), and the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences. He is also the Founding President of the European Academy of Tumor Immunology (EATI) and President of the European Network for Cancer Immunotherapy (ENCI).
Geromedicine is dedicated to advancing the field of precision geromedicine and aims to establish a robust scientific foundation for evidence-based medical interventions that promote healthy aging and longevity. By publishing cutting-edge research, Geromedicine seeks to drive the integration of aging biomarkers, targeted interventions, and implementation strategies into clinical practice.
The journal is currently waiving all article processing charges (APCs) to support early contributions from the global scientific community. Authors are invited to submit high-quality manuscripts that push the boundaries of aging research and shape the future of geromedicine.
We look forward to building a vibrant scholarly community around Geromedicine, and invite researchers, clinicians, and policymakers to join us in this exciting journey.
