Special Issue Information
Smart textiles refer to fibers or fiber assemblies endowed with versatile functional capabilities, including sensing, actuation, adaptation, communication, self-healing, self-powering, data memorization, and intelligent learning. These advanced textiles are capable of responding to external stimuli in either a manually controlled or preprogrammed manner. Smart textile-integrated multifunctional systems integrate microelectronic technologies with artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality and other cutting-edge techniques, unlocking enormous application potential in extensive key fields such as healthcare, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart city management, and intelligent robotics.
This Special Issue aims to showcase recent advances in advanced fibrous materials and textile technologies that enable next-generation smart textiles with enhanced functionality, comfort, durability, and intelligence. By integrating innovative fiber materials with flexible electronics, sensing technologies, responsive actuation technologies, energy system, and advanced manufacturing approaches, smart textiles are playing an increasingly important role in wearable healthcare, human–machine interaction, sports monitoring, intelligent protective equipment, and personalized electronics. The Issue will highlight interdisciplinary research that bridges materials science, textile engineering, electronics, and system-level integration.
The scope includes, but is not limited to:
(1)Advanced fibers, yarns, and textile materials for smart applications
