Dr. Jolanda Gerda Tromp is the Chief Metaverse Officer of the Center for Visualization and Simulation (CVS) at Duy Tan University (DTU) in Da Nang, Vietnam, and Adjunct Professor for the State University of New York (SUNY). With over 20 years of expertise in eXtended Reality (XR), she founded the XRFirst lab at CVS and designed XR curricula for various courses, including for DTU, SUNY and the MIT Hackathon Reality Virtually.
A thought leader in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) methods for Collaborative Virtual Environments and usability for emerging technologies, Dr. Tromp holds a PhD in Systematic Usability Design and Evaluation for eXtended Realities. She's been pivotal in EU and British-funded VR R&D projects and authored publications in esteemed journals. Her consultancy roles span diverse organizations, including the EuroXR Association and State University of New York Mixed Reality Task Group, MedVR™ and Vision Dome™, AvatarMe Photobooth, etc.
Based in Asia, Europe and the USA, she operates as a remote international consultant, shaping the future of XR. Her recent contributions involve the XR Roadmap 2022-2030 Delphi Consensus study, and a research grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science & Innovation. Actively engaged in national and international VRAR Association and networks, Dr. Tromp's influence continues to drive XR innovation across XR and the 17 SDGs, Health & Medicine, Industry 5.0, and adjacent emergent technologies.
