Weiping HE is a professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), Xi'an, China. Professor He is the director of the Cyber-Physical Interaction Laboratory, NPU. He holds a B.E. (1985), M.E. (1988) and PhD, received Excellent Doctorial Dissertation in Shaanxi Province in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering from NPU. His research focuses on a number of topics relating to VR/AR/MR and its application in intelligent product design and manufacturing, specializing in haptic Interaction, tracing and tracking of objects, situation awareness of manufacturing system, and Human-Computer-Object interaction in IoT environment. He has produced more than over 100 publications and 45 patents. As PI and Co-I, he has secured over 30 research grants from Natural Science Foundation of China, and National Hi-tech Research and Development Program of China, etc. He is the vice chair of Manufacturing Technology Committee of Chinese Association of Automation (MTC/CAA), the committee member of Mechanical Industry Automation branch of Mechanical industry of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society(MIA/CMES) and the member of national Technical Committee for Industrial automation systems and integration standardization of Standard Administration of China(TC159/SAC).
