Proteostasis was pleased to support the 15th International Calreticulin Workshop: Endoplasmic Reticulum and Protein Folding in Health and Disease, held in Brussels, Belgium, from 21 to 23 September 2026. The workshop brought together researchers from across the fields of calreticulin biology and protein homeostasis.

During the meeting, Prof. Claudio Hetz, Editor-in-Chief of Proteostasis, introduced the journal to participants and shared its aim of providing an international platform for high-quality research and scholarly exchange in proteostasis.

As part of its support for the workshop, Proteostasis sponsored three Best Poster Awards in recognition of outstanding poster presentations and the important contributions of early-career researchers to the field.

We warmly congratulate Sara Abdel Malak, Laetitia Borderon, and Lucie Caramelle on receiving the Best Poster Awards.

The Proteostasis Editorial Office sincerely thanks the organizing committee for this valuable collaboration and congratulates all award recipients. We look forward to further engaging with the international proteostasis community and supporting scientific exchange in the years ahead.

About the 15th International Calreticulin Workshop:

The 15th Calreticulin, Endoplasmic Reticulum and Protein Folding Workshop will be held from 21st-23rd of September in Brussels, Belgium. Experts in the fields of Calreticulin, Endoplasmic Reticulum and Protein Folding impacting several physiologic and pathologic processes will come together and discuss the newest findings.

The first Calreticulin Workshop took place in 1994 and was established by Marek Michalak and his team. It focused on the biochemistry and cell biology of calreticulin, including its chaperone function, protein structure, and calcium homeostatic control. Since then, calreticulin and related endoplasmic reticulum and protein folding areas have gained or mainatained international widespread interest. In parallel the discovery of calreticulin mutations in myeloproliferative neoplasms and major impact of the field for neurological diseases and other pathologies broadened the scope of the workshops. The Workshop has evolved into an international event hosted every 2-3 years in different countries around the world (Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Italy, Switzerland, UK, USA and Greece). The goal of the Workshop is to bring together leading international scientists and serve as a forum for the exchange of new information and prominent questions spanning the structure and function of the endoplasmic reticulum, chaperones, calcium homeostasis, gene expression, wound healing and many other impacted cellular functions.
