About the Journal

Proteostasis is a quarterly, gold open-access journal published by Science Exploration Press. The journal is dedicated to advancing fundamental and translational research across all aspects of protein homeostasis (proteostasis), with a focus on integrating multiple nodes of the proteostasis network, including protein folding pathways, subcellular compartmentalization, quality control mechanisms, stress responses, protein translation, degradation pathways, and protein maturation and targeting, and their roles in physiology and disease. It provides an interdisciplinary platform for discoveries that reveal how cells maintain dynamic molecular balance in constantly changing environments.

Aims and Scope

Proteostasis is a pioneering journal dedicated to advancing the field on different aspects of the protein homeostasis (proteostasis), by integrating multiple nodes of the proteostasis network (i.e. protein folding pathways, subcellular compartments, quality control mechanisms, stress responses, protein translation, protein degradation pathways and protein maturation and targeting), and its involvement in physiology and disease. Since proteostasis impairment is a primary hallmark of aging, the journal also aims to establish a robust scientific foundation for evidence-based interventions that target proteostasis to promote health, delay disease and promote longevity. By publishing cutting-edge research, Proteostasis seeks to drive the integration of cell biology, biochemistry, protein aggregation, systems biology, targeted interventions (advanced therapies and small molecules), biomarkers and implementation strategies into clinical practice.

Proteostasis welcomes manuscripts covering theoretical, fundamental, preclinical, translational, and clinical aspects of proteostasis. Key research areas include, but are not limited to:

• Protein synthesis, maturation and trafficking
• Protein degradation (proteasome, autophagy pathways, lysosomes)
• Protein destination and trafficking
• Protein aggregation and protein misfolding disorders
• Proteins secretion
• Protein folding, maturation and quality control
• Biomarkers and predictors of health and disease
• New methods and animal models
• Evolution, nomenclature, data reanalysis, big data
• Small molecules and advanced therapies to target proteostasis
• Clinical Trial Design & Outcomes
• Implementation Science
• Systems Biology & Omics Approaches

We welcome original research articles, reviews, short communications, perspectives, and other article types.
