Bio:
Dr. Pavlidis received his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2005, earning the distinction of the Ericsson Awards of Excellence in Telecommunications. Since 1991, he has been working in R&D projects with emphasis on multimedia in culture and education. In 2002 he joined the Athena Research Center, where he is now the head of the Speech, Media and Content Technologies Dept., and member of the “Clepsydra” Cultural Heritage Digitization Lab. Dr. Pavlidis has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Hellenic Open University, the International Hellenic University, the University of the Aegean, and the Democritus University of Thrace. His research interests include 2D/3D imaging, pattern recognition and machine learning, CBIR, media technologies, human-computer interaction, intelligent user interfaces, multi-sensory environments and ambient intelligence, 3D digitization and reconstruction, 3D-GIS and extended reality. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, of the Hellenic Researchers' Association, a senior member of the IEEE, and a CAA-GR steering committee member.
