Special Issue Information

Metal-based therapeutics have emerged as a rapidly evolving frontier in biomedicine, offering innovative solutions for disease treatment and tissue regeneration. Owing to their unique physicochemical properties and versatile biological activities, metal ions, metal complexes, and metal-containing biomaterials have demonstrated tremendous potential in regulating immune responses, combating infections, promoting tissue repair, and enhancing the efficacy of conventional therapies. Recent advances in biomaterials, nanotechnology, drug delivery systems, and regenerative medicine have further accelerated the development of versatile metal-based therapeutic platforms with improved precision, biosafety, and clinical translational potential.

This Special Issue, "Emerging Strategies for Metal-Based Therapeutics and Regenerative Medicine", aims to highlight the latest advances and emerging trends in the design, synthesis, characterization, and biomedical applications of metal-based therapeutics. We welcome original research articles and comprehensive reviews covering a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:
(1) Metal ions, metal complexes, metallodrugs, and metal-containing biomaterials for biomedical applications;
(2) Hydrogels, scaffolds, nanomaterials, and delivery systems for controlled and targeted metal-based therapy;
(3) Metal-mediated immunomodulation, antimicrobial treatment, and regulation of inflammatory or pathological microenvironments;
(4) Metal-based strategies for bone, cartilage, skin, nerve, cardiovascular, and other tissue regeneration;
(5) Mechanistic studies, biosafety evaluation, translational research, and clinical perspectives of next-generation metal-based therapeutics.
