Dr. Tham Piumsomboon is an Associate Professor at the School of Product Design, University of Canterbury, with a research focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Extended Reality (XR), and Human-AI Interaction. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury and has extensive experience in academia and industry. His work aims to enhance human potential by developing technologies that improve perception, cognition, and collaboration while fostering ethical interactions between humans and AI. Dr. Piumsomboon has contributed to significant advances in the field, particularly in multimodal interaction in AR and collaboration in MR. He has published in leading conferences such as ACM CHI and received several accolades, including the 2022 New and Emerging Researcher Award from the Faculty of Engineering. Dr. Piumsomboon has held roles in international conference committees, including IEEE ISMAR, IEEE VR, and ACM VRST, and has contributed actively to peer-reviewing for over 20 leading journals and conferences.
