Special Issue Information
Growing concerns over climate change and rising energy consumption have aroused the global demand for energy-efficient and sustainable building technologies. Windows represent the least energy-efficient component of building envelopes, leading to energy loss related to the thermal and light comfort. Smart windows can dynamically adjust their optical and thermal properties in response to external stimuli such as light, heat, or electricity, offering a promising solution to reduce energy consumption for the heating, cooling, and lighting demand. To accelerate the transition from laboratory innovation to real-world application, this Special Issue invites submissions on novel smart window technologies, including advanced material synthesis methods, innovative device architectures, theoretical insights and etc. We seek contributions that bridge fundamental research with practical applications, demonstrating the great impact of new theories, materials, and devices. By bringing cutting-edge research from diverse fields, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current advancements and future directions in smart window technology. We sincerely welcome papers that not only address existing technical challenges, but also propose potential solutions to advance energy-efficient building envelope systems.
