Speaker
Prof. Seungwon Kim School of Artificial Intelligence Convergence, Chonnam National University, Gwangju, South Korea.
Prof. Seungwon Kim is Director of Empathic Computing Laboratory in Korea, and Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence Convergence, Chonnam National University, South Korea. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Tasmania, in 2008 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the HIT Laboratory NZ, New Zealand, in 2016, under the supervision of Prof. Mark Billinghurst. During the Ph.D, he developed several remote collaboration systems supporting stabilized sketch and pointer cues. His research interests are developing a VR/AR media platform that shares emotion and information among multiple users.
Introduction
People communicate with each other for two main purposes: to share information or to share emotions. Over the past decades, researchers have extensively studied how geographically distributed individuals share information - a field known as Remote Collaboration. However, comparatively fewer studies have focused on the sharing of emotions.
In this talk, Prof. Seungwon Kim will present his recent studies and potential research topics related to sharing emotions between humans and AI agents. Drawing on his research experience, he will introduce a framework for categorizing prior work in remote collaboration and demonstrate how this framework can be applied to the field of empathic computing. This approach aims to help researchers identify promising study topics within empathic computing.
